This risky sexual behavior can lead to stroke, seizures and even
Statistically, Americans are losing interest in sex, but a dangerous behavior is taking over.
Despite the potentially fatal impact, risk practices have been normalized through the scope of pornography.
A study published in the Journal of Sexual Behavior Archives this week found that more than half of Australian adults aged 35 and under reportedly strangled by their partners during sex.
While this may seem interesting for those who do this, it can actually lead to severe brain damage – the results may not necessarily be immediate.
Sexual hang involves applying pressure to the neck and limiting blood flow or breathing to “enhance” sexual experiences.
It usually combines the dynamics of dominance/obedience and uses hands, arms, feet and binding agents (such as belts and ropes).
In sexual games and pornography, it is often referred to as “suffocation” – although suffocation is different and technically describes partial obstruction of the trachea.
But experts warn that no matter how gentle the couple thinks they are, and whether they like their partner at the moment or not, it is how dangerous it is.
In a recent speech, Dr. Debby Herbenick, a professor of public health at Indiana University, warned: “There is no zero-risk way to participate in asphyxiation.” “Although deaths from asphyxiation are rare, they do happen.”
Experts describe the neck as “shockingly fragile”, which can cause permanent damage no matter how briefly limiting the blood flowing to the brain.
Even when applied to someone’s throat, the “relatively low” power of opening a can of soda can is enough to cause subconscious and risk brain damage.
The direct consequences of sexual hang include bruising or swelling in the neck, changes in vision, dizziness or the head of the mind, and difficulty swallowing.
With arterial pressure, people may lose consciousness in just four seconds. Researchers at Bangor University and doctors at the North Wales Brain Injury Service insist that this loss of consciousness at least indicates that the person suffered a minor brain injury.
Although loss of consciousness may occur within seconds, death or paralysis may occur within minutes of strangulation.
Other consequences of sexual hang can take days, weeks, or even years to manifest. These can take the form of sound, urinary incontinence, seizures, memory, concentration and decision-making, depression, anxiety and miscarriage.
There is growing evidence that, like the cumulative injury of repetitive head injuries, hypoxic/hypoxic brain injury caused by sexual asphyxiation can accumulate and lead to long-term cognitive problems.
“Every time subsequently, the risk associated with brain damage is increased,” said Professor Heather Douglas, a study co-author of the Law School of the University of Melbourne.
“So it’s kind of like a head injury, because the injury can accumulate. A miscarriage can also be caused by strangulation and can happen for a week or several months under the track. strangulation can lead to a stroke. Memory can also increase.”
A 2022 study found that ransomware, including as part of domestic violence, is the second most common cause of stroke in women under the age of 40.
In addition, separate studies have shown that hanging is more dangerous than water plates, because hanging affects blood flow and air flow.
A paper published in May this year compared blood samples from women who were strangled at least four times in sexual behavior in the past 30 days without any history of strangulation. Samples of women who reported strangled showed elevated levels of S100B, a sign of brain damage.
The researchers believe that the surge in blackmail is partly due to the prevalence of intimacy in pornography. Earlier this summer, Britain announced the crime of pornography, which portrayed an independent comment that found porn effectively made blackmail “sexual norms” and “safe” behavior, and took “safe” behavior.
Herbenick notes that the concept of “roughness” continues to develop, and now, in addition to spanking, pulling, biting and fixing partners, includes sexual hanging, face slapping, torso and genitals, consent non-consent (CNC) (CNC) and hole punching.
In seemingly voluntary sexual situations, women are increasingly injured and killed. In the UK in 1996, two women were killed or injured each year during the period the defendants called “voluntary sexual acts”, but by 2016, that number had soared to 20 women.
For the authors of this latest study, their study hopes that their study will educate young people about the dangers of sexual hang and encourage conversations about consent.
“Interacting with young people requires non-stigmatized educational strategies to better understand the risks involved and how to negotiate consent and security about sexual stifling,” the study authors concluded.
